Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
